About the author
For more than 30 years Lori has worked as a production manager in the film industry making television commercials for Fortune 500 clients, managing budgets, production crews, equipment, timelines, schedules and travel. In Successful Surgery Lori has taken the skills required to manage huge jobs - being organized, practical and inquisitive - and translated them to create practical “how-to” materials for patients facing surgery, healing and recovery.
Lori’s credentials and expertise also come from firsthand experience and field research from planned and unplanned surgeries and accidents (open-heart surgery, an emergency appendectomy, reconstructive knee surgery, a partially-severed Achilles tendon, a traumatic brain injury and back surgery).
Her studies and inquiring mind have taken her from Southern California to Arizona State University to Boston, Massachusetts to a classroom in the Shivagakomarpaj Traditional Medicine Hospital in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to the Himalaya in Nepal, to a 16-week journey across India to a massage therapy to Salt Lake City. These combined experiences make Lori an exceptional resource and guide.
Lori is also a passionate volunteer for many organizations including those that support foster children, brain injury, U.S. veterans and disaster relief.
Lori currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah with her blind dog Annabell Sweetpea who is a daily reminder of the value of listening and being present, compassionate and gentle.
